Q and A for A.E. Nathan Website
1. WHO IS A.E. NATHAN CO., INC.? A.E. Nathan is a family owned fabric converter specializing in novelty flannel, fleece and broadcloth prints as well as various other flannel products (solids, 108” wide fabric and diaper flannel, to name a few). A.E. Nathan also runs various licensed fabric lines which currently include Pez and Wow Wow Wubbzy.
2. WHAT IS THE STYLEMAKER DIVISION? The Stylemaker Division is an A.E. Nathan related company. This division specializes in fabrics made in India like costume satin solids and homespun solids, checks and plaids. (Click on Links bottom left under Stylemaker)
3. WHERE ARE A.E. NATHAN’S OFFICES LOCATED? A. E. Nathan is located at 49 West 37th Street, N. Y., N.Y. 10018 on the 14th floor.
4. WHERE DOES A.E. NATHAN’S FABRIC SHIP FROM? All of the A.E. Nathan flannel, broadcloth products and Stylemaker products are shipped from Seneca, South Carolina. All fleece products are shipped from Fontana, C.A.
5. WHERE CAN A.E. NATHAN’S FABRIC BE PURCHASED? A.E. Nathan’s fabrics can be purchased from all major fabric retail chains (See Chain Stores) as well as some smaller mom and pop quilt shops around the U.S. (See Retailers). In addition, A.E. Nathan sells through various U.S. and Canadian distributors (See Distributor) as well as a U.S. sales force (See Sales Reps.) 6. WHAT IS THE MINIMUM ORDER REQUIREMENT? Customers can buy smaller quantities of our fabrics through our sales force (See Sales Reps.) or various U.S. distributors (See Distributors). However, for call in orders to our main office, for stores or manufacturing customers, it is required that you order at least 250 yards at a time or approximately 12 bolts. Please note that A.E. Nathan ONLY sells by the bolt i.e. cut fabric is not sold.
7. WHAT IS THE QUILT OF THE MONTH PROGRAM? The quilt of the month is a program that A.E. Nathan runs for Walmart. The program usually includes 5-8 different prints and a printed instruction sheet to make a quilt. If you are not a Walmart store and would like to carry the quilt of the month in your shop, please contact us (Customer Service 1.800.294.9495 x 213) and we will try to accommodate your needs. If you order this program for your quilt shop, you must order 1 bolt of every pattern in the collection. Please note that A.E. Nathan has been selected to supply this program to Walmart indefinitely. 8. HOW MUCH DO A.E. NATHAN’S FABRICS COST? Please inquire with your distributor or salesman regarding A.E. Nathan’s pricing structure. For manufacturers or customers buying quantities larger than 250 yards, please inquire with the home office (Customer Service 1.800.294.9495 x 213). Manufacturing and larger customers buying significant quantities or ROT fabrics are sometimes qualified for price breaks.
9. WHERE ARE A.E. NATHAN’S FABRICS PRODUCED? All A.E. Nathan flannel and most of the broadcloth is printed in Pakistan. A.E. Nathan fleece is printed in China. Select broadcloth items are printed in China.
10. CAN A.E. NATHAN DO CUSTOM ITEMS? We have excellent resources in Pakistan and China that are capable of doing various custom items i.e. swaddle blankets, printed or solid fleece throws, custom printings, etc. A.E. Nathan can also print any pattern that you desire, but there is typically a 4000-6000 yard minimum order or a surcharge for small quantities. Please inquire about your specific requests as A.E. Nathan tries to be very accommodating. These special orders can take from 3-6 months, so please plan accordingly. For quicker turnaround, please note that you may print one of A.E. Nathan’s existing patterns in any color from a library of designs.
11. WHAT ARE A.E. NATHAN AWESOME THROWS? In 2008, A.E. Nathan ran four different patterns of 50”x 60” micro-fleece throws which were sold at a major retailer. These items are now sold out, but A.E. Nathan is capable of printing these for your store in bulk quantities. One can choose from our wide library of prints or A.E. Nathan can custom design a print or prints for you. These are also available in solid colors.
12. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR FABRIC OR A QUESTION YOU CANNOT GET ANSWERED? Please feel free to contact an A.E. Nathan customer service agent at 800-294-9495 x 213 and the agent will answer your question or put you in touch with someone who can answer your question.
13. HOW DO I GET SAMPLE CARDS OF A.E. NATHAN FABRIC? To obtain samples, please contact the A.E. Nathan customer service agent.
14. WHAT DO I DO IF I CANNOT LOCATE ONE OF A.E. NATHAN’S FABRICS? Your best bet is to contact the A.E. Nathan customer service agent. In addition, you can try to locate our fabrics at www.fabric.com, our preferred internet retailer.
15. DOES A.E. NATHAN HAVE A BLOG? Yes, A.E. Nathan does have a blog where the company tries to make customers aware of what is new at A.E. Nathan.
16. DOES A.E. NATHAN HAVE A MAILING LIST? On the A.E. Nathan website, you will see that there is a spot to sign up for the A.E. Nathan mailing list (See Mailing List). A.E. Nathan tries to send a quarterly newsletter to all customers on the mailing list. Please feel free to sign up today.
17. DOES A.E. NATHAN PROVIDE CHARITABLE DONATIONS OR DONATIONS FOR SHOP HOPS? A.E. Nathan takes pride in donating a lot of flannel every year to important charitable organizations and causes. As you can see from the A.E. Nathan blog (See Blog), A.E. Nathan has been a major sponsor for the Delta Airlines Quilt For Every Bed program which provides blankets for a major Utah hospital. Please contact us regarding donations. In addition, we try to accommodate all requests for shop hop donations.
18. HOW CAN I BECOME A LICENSOR FOR A.E. NATHAN? A.E. Nathan is always looking for new and creative designers who are interested in designing fabric lines for our companies. Please feel free to send groups of designs to our home office. A.E.
